Inspired by the auto-biography of Aaron Dixon (former Seattle Black Panther Captain), the “My People Are Rising” web portal is centered around films, music, and design projects that trace the early history of the Black Panther party for younger generations.
The art featured on this web portal explore topics that include: the difficult decisions party members had to make for their families, analyzes the fall of Huey Newton, celebrates the election of the first Black mayor of Oakland, and acknowledges the rise of the first female leader in the party (Elaine Brown).
